How To Be Motivated for School

Motivation.

The thing we’re all searching for, yet can never seem to find.

Being a student is hard, especially when you’re faced with piles of uninteresting work, hours of studying, and extracurriculars.

So, how do you find the motivation to get it all done?

I have to break it to you… you’re probably never going to find the motivation.

Motivation comes from the feeling of satisfaction when you do something that aligns with your goals.

Therefore, in order to be motivated, you first have to feel satisfied… and I’m going to assume that calculus isn’t something that fuels your fire.

We believe we need to have motivation in order to get something done, but that’s not the case. You can still write an essay or finish your math homework despite whatever emotion you’re feeling.

So, the key to getting things done in school is to just do them. Put aside whatever you’re feeling and take the first step.

Newton’s First Law states an object in motion stays in motion, so taking action is necessary for the rest of the plan to follow through. Once you write one paragraph you might as well write the next one, and the next one…

The funny thing about motivation is that it usually kicks in after we’ve started something. Now that you’ve finished your first assignment, you should feel satisfied. That satisfaction then fuels you to begin the next assignment, in order to keep that feeling going.

Now you’ve got the motivation ball rolling.

The hardest part of your schoolwork is getting started. So, save yourself the agony of procrastination and just start.

I know this is probably not the answer you were looking for, as you’re sure there’s a secret process out there to brew up some motivation, but sometimes the answer is plain and simple.

For those of you who like to read step-by-step directions on how to do things, here’s how to be motivated for school:

  1. Take out your assignments
  2. Realize that you don’t feel like doing any of them
  3. Also realize that you’re probably never going to feel like doing them
  4. Figure out what’s the smallest first step you can take, and take it
  5. Then take another step
  6. And another one
  7. Keep going until you’ve finished the assignment
  8. Realize that you did it without “feeling motivated” and now you actually are motivated to do more
  9. Continue with the rest of your assignments

I think that reminding yourself of the goal you want to reach from all of the studying process will push you to take out those books and actually do something we can all agree about the fact that big success comes out of tiny babysteps we take everyday that is the power of habit if the goal you have the destiny that you chose for yourself aren’t YOURS there will be no power that fuels you to work if your why isn’t strong enough do not expect yourself to feel inspired motivated you will not even be able to pull out those books
To sum it up your why is tremendously important make sure that it is your why not your parent’s why or your friend’s why if your why is truly yours you WILL ENJOY those essays that work you will feel driven.🤛🤛🤛

I love this reese. It’s so true too, you end up feeling motivated once you actually do the thing you don’t want to do. Action=Motivation.

I really love your blog Reese. I know it sounds probably weird but I’ve been “stalking” this blog for a while now.

I’m nowhere near College or University at the moment but a lot of your study tips helped me push through my first High School year and improve my grades a lot.

You also inspired me to start writing my own blog and hopefully help other who are in similar positions or situations like me.

Thanks a lot for that 🙂

( Just thought I would inform you and say a small thank you )
