School + Study

The ULTIMATE List of Online Resources For School

Throughout the many years I’ve been in school now, I’ve collected a long list of resources to use in helping me do my best. I believe that finding tools to aid you in your studies is a great way to save time and energy, so I’m always on the lookout for some good websites to try.

Here’s a list of the best sites and online resources I’ve found (and love!) to use for school. Make sure to share this list with your friends to spread the love, and feel free to add more resources in the comments!

Google Suite

Google is one of my all-time favorite companies and you will hear me reference it a lot when talking about school (Google if you’re seeing this, sponsor me😉). Google Suite is a collection of apps used with your Gmail account that is cloud-based and can be accessed on any computer. You can share files with others and work on together on documents at the same time. It is essentially Google’s version of Microsoft Office (but is free!)

  1. Google Drive – Where you upload and save all of your files from the other Google apps (essentially a “cloud”).
  2. Google Docs – Create word documents.
  3. Google Slides – Create Powerpoint presentations.
  4. Google Calendar – Organize your busy schedule and create appointments and reminders.
  5. Gmail – Your email account that connects all of the apps.

Book Summary Websites

These websites can be used to find summaries of books and novels so you can better understand the main concepts and ideas. They’re great to use alongside reading the book (or ya know, reading instead of the book).

  1. Gradesaver
  2. Sparknotes
  3. Shmoop

I’ll typically use two of these sites at once, as one site may have a different perspective or details that the other one doesn’t. Also, make sure not to just read the summaries, but the analyses of the stories as well – that’s where all the critical evaluation is!

Scholarly Websites

These websites come in handy when working on a more “professional” or important assignments, such as essays and research.

  1. Google Scholar – Used to find research articles on almost any topic.
  2. Easybib – Used to create citations for essays of almost any format.
  3. Thesaurus – Used to replace common words with synonyms for a better vocabulary (I use this ALL the time!)

Learning Websites

These sites are great references to help you better understand concepts and ideas. YouTube has a video on almost any topic you can think of, and Khan Academy is specifically made to help students with free online course on many subjects

  1. Youtube
  2. Khan Academy
  3. TED Talks

Presentation/Project Websites

These websites are great to use for projects that require visuals or custom designs. They’re all free and super easy to use no matter your creative skill level.

  1. Canva – Used to create custom graphics such as posters, flyers, or social media posts. Choose from a variety of templates, photos, fonts, and more.
  2. Unsplash – A collection of stock photos to use for free in presentations and projects.
  3. Prezi – Create an interactive slideshow presentation with different templates.

Other Useful Sites

These websites I couldn’t quite fit in to a category, but I still think they’re super useful for students.

  1. Rate My Professors – Best for college students to look up professors at their school and see how other students rate them.
  2. Kahoot.it – An interactive website that lets you create a game out of questions and multiple choice answers. The players use their phones as a “remote” to answer the questions in real-time and score them based on quickness and accuracy. Great for projects and presentations!
  3. Quizlet – Create virtual flashcards or use ones that someone else created!
